January’s Tic-Tac-Toe Spelling Board

Lest you think that all we did was party like penguins this past week, let me share that we DID spend a lot of time on math, phonics, language, and spelling, too!

On Wednesday, we did our math in the kitchen: we focused on measurement. Using all the measuring cups and pitchers we could find, we figured out how many 1/8 c. are in 1 cup; how many 1/3 c. are in a 1 cup, and so on. Then we figured out how many cups are in a pint; how many pints are in a quart; how many quarts are in a gallon. When we returned to our classroom, we drew what we had discovered.

We also explored our new Tic-Tac-Toe Spelling board for this month, and there are such bright minds in our classroom, that we learned about alliteration and added it to our board. Here is Ayerabella, holding her “Nascar Spelling” race track, and her “Hidden Words”:
